Or an external hard drive that you can carry around with the MacBook. You want one with a USB-C cable. I have one of these. Bigger version here.
One issue to be aware of is the formatting of the hard drive. Windows mostly uses NTFS. Mac uses MacOS or APFS. Neither uses the other. So if you want a drive that can work with both your old system and the new Mac, you want the drive to be formatted with ExFAT. It is not hard to do it. Here is how.
